Left Behind. . . .
nope, i'm not talking about the books or the movies . . .
or that ridiculous pay-per-preview prophesy club . . .
the organization that i work for chopped off a quarter of our staff yesterday . . .
the fallout means meetings upon meeting upon meetings . . .
staff members grievances, and management explaining their actions . . .
personally, i just wanna move on . . .
such is life . . .
so, i watched this show the other day . . .
and it's not always the most wholesome show, so i'll leave the title anon. . . .
but one of the subtle themes that runs through the show . . .
is redemption . . .
and this episode in particular made a pretty profound and bold statement as it closed . . .
one of the characters is an ex-con turned cop . . .
he uses his old gang connections (one old friend in particular) . . .
to keep his ears to the street . . .
at the end of every case that he gets help from this friend . . .
he reminds his friend of the benefits and opportunity of "going straight" . . .
(or, as it is sometimes referred to, "living righteous"). . .
every time the friend refuses the offer . . .
when asked why he continues to make that proposal . . .
he explained that his life is so much better now . . .
that if he didn't try to bring his friend into the same lifestyle . . .
he could hardly consider himself as being a true friend . . .
hows that for a not-so-subtle shot at how we as Christians . . .
should act with our friends . . .
hums . . .
whoa . . .
what a whirlwind life has been over the last week and a half . . .
Let me just start off . . .
(and perhaps finish, the way things have been going). . .
by sharing with you what i learned this Easter Sunday . . .
no matter what is going on . . .
no matter where you are in life . . .
no matter what you're going through . . .
you are never out of God's reach . . .
i guess i didn't just learn that . . .
but i was reassured Sunday . . .
here's a bit of a backdrop . . .
after a long week of travel, loneliness, and what not . . .
a weekend of hard and much manual labor . . .
with plenty more work on the horizon . . .
i headed to church . . .
and had a police car pull out behind me and follow as i sped down the road . . .
(fortunately he didn't ticket me) . . .
then in the crowded parking lot i managed to back into another car . . .
nice setup to enter into worship, right?
and yet, God did reach me at church as i extended myself to meet him . . .
amazing . . .
well, i have been meaning to write . . .
it just hasn't worked out too well . . .
anyway . . .
i've got some thoughts about building an Ark . . .
maybe i'll write them down soon . . .
right now, i'm battling a cold and being overtired . . .
